After 16 years in industry, in 1976, Keith Hearnden became a tutor in the Department of Continuing Education at Â鶹ֱ²¥ University where he remained until 1996. 

At Â鶹ֱ²¥, he pioneered postgraduate Security and Risk Management Education, writing several books and papers on the subject of business security.
