We are a friendly and growing team of researchers with complementary expertise in different aspects of experimental and computational physics, working at the intersections with other disciplines.

Our network of international collaborators includes physicists, engineers, chemists, computer scientists, biologists, medics and clinicians - to name a few.

We are always on the lookout for new talented and enthusiastic group members, including those from diverse career paths and backgrounds, and those who have taken career breaks.

If you’d be interested in joining us, please get in touch.

PhD opportunities

We are delighted to have successfully recruited to the opportunity described below, but please review the project to get a flavour of the sort of research in which our students are engaged.

Computational modelling and testing of inverse Compton scattering sources for medical applications
Supervisors: Dr Jenny Spiga and Dr Sarah Bugby

Radiotherapy is an effective way to treat tumours. However, not all cancers can be treated with radiotherapy. The potential of new therapies - including Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT) - is being explored in synchrotrons around the world.

The successful candidate will simulate and test newly available X-ray sources in France and Italy for potential use in MRT and imaging.

Funding options for PhDs

Self- and government-funded students are welcome to get in touch to discuss their research aspirations and whether ARMPG would be a good fit.

If you would be interested in a PhD position in our group, but do not currently have funding, please browse the links below. If you identify an appropriate source of funding, we can work with you to prepare your application.
