The workshop, Exploring Madiba’s Graphic Heritage, shared new insights from the project at Â鶹ֱ²¥ University that synthesises the relationship between toponymy, graphic images, digital design, cultural heritage, and place-making in locations named after Madiba. Perspectives from academia, Nelson Mandela Foundation, creative industries, and delegate participation were shared in the context of research undertaken in South Africa, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.
The workshop is part of a United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) GCRF/Newton Fund Consolidation project led by Dr Robert Harland, Reader in Urban Graphic Heritage, and Dr Yolandi Burger, Research Fellow from the School of Design and Creative Arts at Â鶹ֱ²¥ University, alongside Dr Everardt Burger, Lecturer from the Department of Civil Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology.
