Planned internet outages – Wednesday 17 April

IT Services will be carrying out essential maintenance to upgrade our campus firewalls on Wednesday 17 April from 8am-11am.

Due to a business-critical event on Wednesday 17 April, the essential work to upgrade our campus firewalls will now take place between 8am-11am (finishing an hour earlier).

Due to the complex nature of the work, a contingency plan has been scheduled for the following working day. If necessary, additional maintenance will take place from 8am-10am on Thursday 18 April.

The work will require a small number of short outages to internet access (including MS Teams and off campus VPN) that will last up to 30 minutes.

Users on campus, or connected to the VPN, will not be able to access any services/sites on the internet during the outages (including Microsoft 365 applications). University hosted services such as Learn and my.HR will also be affected by the outages.

IMPORTANT: Colleagues are asked to be mindful of any meetings scheduled on MS Teams during this time, as they are likely to experience interruptions and you may want to reschedule these for a different date. This will include the Microsoft Teams Phone service for those Departments and Schools that have already migrated.
